Stellarium

  • Open the Application, "Stellarium".
    • Change the location to Philadelphia, USA.
    • Try changing the menu options on the bottom and left of the screen to see how that changes the view.
  • Hunt for the following:
    • The Big Dipper
    • Orion
    • Planets
    • North Star
    • Milky Way
    • Your Zodiac Sign
  • Can you find objects that look like stars, but are actually far-away galaxies?
    • Hint: you can find galaxies in the direction of the Big Dipper, and in the direction of Orion.
    • Hint: you can also search for galaxies, using the search tool on the left menu.

Make sure you pay attention to the place of our solar system in the galaxy, and the place of constellation-stars in our galaxy.
